Is your straight road really straight?

Sefiat just finished secondary school. It was a breath of fresh air to have completed secondary education but then there was a major decision to be made.

“What do I study? Where do I apply?”

Time was running fast. Weeks were turning into months and the pressure to make a decision increased by the hour. Advices from here and there only made her more confused. Deep down in here heart she wanted to study French at university but that reason so she could say she held a degree. The other thing was nursing but her ego stepped in the way. She had been told nursing was a ‘dumping ground’ for those not good enough to study medicine and she felt she was better than a ‘dumping ground’!

She went to God in prayer. The revelation from here changed her life for good.
She dreamt: she and her friend stood in front of two roads. One went straight ahead in front of her and the other had steps going underground and then steps coming upwards at the other end.

“The straight road is always the quickest” she thought.
Being the one to choose first, she chose the straight road while her friend Bukky chose the underground route.

Sefiat had not gotten far in her journey when she heard Bukky calling afar “Sefiat where are you? I’ve reached the other end. Where are you?”
By the time Sefiat had got to the middle of the road there were a series of obstacles that blocked here road. She could hear Bukky calling her but couldn’t see her.

When she woke up, she knew what God was telling her.
Sefiat went on to do nursing which she didn’t regret because the knowledge she gained helped her to nurse her children when they were ill rather than waiting for a doctor or admitting them in a hospital.
She remembered her mother telling her that if she studied French, she would use money from the house she rented out to fund her education.
But a year later her mom’s house got burnt down. Of course that meant no money was available.
………………………………………………………...............................

Sefiat thought doing French at university was a fast and easy road to gaining a degree, But God made her think again.

God is faithful! Every Christian will come to a point in their life when they have to accept what God wills and let go of their own. It’s going to be hard but in the future when you look back, you’ll realise that the road you thought was straight wasn’t. The road which is truly straight is the road God chooses for you.

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him who have been called according to his purpose - Romans 8:28"

The Lord is good all the time!
